Industrial Hygiene

We got the solution to your IH requirements.

Have you ever wondered what Industrial Hygiene (IH) is and what is its role in health and safety at the workplace?

Based on the definition of OSHA, IH is "a science or art devoted to the recognition, evaluation, and control of those environmental stresses or hazards arising in or from the workplace, that may cause sickness, impaired health, and well-being, or significant discomfort and inefficiency among workers."

To determine these environmental stresses and their ill effects on workers' health through sampling and direct measurement using IH equipment, Work Environment Measurement or WEM is conducted in the workplace.

Non-destructive Testing

Understanding what an NDT Testing is and its Benefits

People360 conducts Non-Destructive Testing (NDT), a procedure that locates and characterizes material conditions and flaws that might otherwise cause planes to crash, reactors to fail, trains to derail, pipelines to burst, and a variety of less visible, but equally troubling events. These tests are performed in a manner that does not affect the future usefulness of the object or material. Cognizant of the critical nature of this procedure, the engineers and technicians are provided with training and certifications at the Philippine Nuclear Research Institute (PNRI) on skills related to Liquid Penetrant Testing and Magnetic Particle Testing.

 NON-DESTRUCTIVE TESTING

The Industrial Hygiene Laboratory is capable of analyzing airborne occupational hazards.

  • Particulates (Total and Respirable Dusts, Alkaline Dust, Carbon Black, Oil Mist)
  • Acids (Sulfuric Acid, Phosphoric Acid, Hydrochloric Acid, Nitric Acid)
  • Alcohols (Ethanol, IPA, 2-Butanol)
  • Aromatic Hydrocarbons (Benzene, Toluene, Ethylbenzene, Xylene)
  • Ketones (Acetone, Cyclohexanone)
  • Ethyl Acetate
  • n-Hexane
  • Formaldehyde
  • Gases (NOx, SOx, NH3)

The IH Laboratory houses state-of-the-art analytical instruments, such as Shimadzu’s Nexis GC-2030 for gas chromatography, Hitachi’s U-5100 spectrophotometry, and Mettler Toledo’s MS105DU for gravimetric analyses.

IH Laboratory

Industrial Hygiene Laboratory (IH Lab)

The People360 IH Lab is an accredited Category III Sampling and Occupational Hygiene Laboratory recognized by the Occupational Safety and Health Center (OSHC) of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE). With the guidance of the OSHC and various published literature (e.g., OSHC Yellow Book, NIOSH Manual of Analytical Methods, etc.), the People360 IH Laboratory provides fast and accurate chemical analyses of WEM samples, helping evaluate workplace safety.
